From Hesitation to Unanimous Approval

Change is often met with resistance, and for good reason. For schools, adopting a new system isn't just a technical swap; it requires retraining staff and disrupting established workflows. Faith Christian School (FCS) faced this exact dilemma: they were using a legacy School Management System (SMS) that was inefficient, yet familiar.

About Faith Christian School (FCS)

Founded in 1985 in Cainta, Rizal, Faith Christian School was formerly accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) until the pandemic in 2020 and currently a PEAC-certified institution serving over 1,000 students. With a mission to train the next generation through a Christ-centered approach, FCS offers a complete K-12 program, including a Special Science curriculum in Junior High and specialized tracks like technical drafting and AutoCAD.

The Challenge: The Inertia of the "Familiar"

Before Edusuite, FCS had attempted to modernize with a different local provider, but the experience was frustrating. Mr. JP Estrellado, the school's IT Coordinator, described the previous system as "difficult," noting that promised features never materialized and the school was even denied full access to their own database.

 

 

Despite these issues, the faculty was hesitant to switch again. Their concern was grounded in reality: learning a new platform takes time, effort, and mental energy – resources that teachers prefer to dedicate to their students. "When I told teachers of the new system (Edusuite) they did not want to change," Mr. Estrellado recalls. "They were used to [the old system]... it took many meetings, even a year" to reassure them that a new migration would be worth the investment of their time.

The Solution: Proving the Value 

Mr. Estrellado knew they needed a "one-stop-shop" that could handle both enrollment and grading without the headaches of the past. He vetted Edusuite based on features, price, and its roster of prestigious clients.

 

The turning point for the reluctant staff came during the demo. The administration focused on the specific pain point that plagued the teachers the most: grading. "The grading sheet was the deciding factor," Mr. Estrellado explains. When the teachers saw how fast it was to encode grades and generate reports compared to their previous struggles, the resistance evaporated. They realized the new tool would drastically lessen their administrative burden, making the learning curve worth the effort. The decision to switch became unanimous.

 

The implementation followed suit, designed to be as non-disruptive as possible. Mr. Estrellado describes the journey from inquiry to negotiation as "smooth and fast," allowing the school to go live quickly.

"We aim to produce industry-ready graduates, same as a lot of schools, but we’d like to do that while making sure that the education is accessible. This is where we focus heavily our efforts on."

The Results: A Worthy Transition

The fear of a difficult transition was alleviated by Edusuite's user-friendly design and support. While the "1st quarter [was a] challenge for the faculty to be familiar," the learning curve was short; "by the 2nd and 3rd quarter, everybody can use [Edusuite]".

  • Financial Visibility: The system closed loopholes in tuition collection.. "Now, we can see who has balances," Mr. Estrellado notes, crediting the Clearance Manager for helping balance the books. Parents can now easily monitor their own accounts , ensuring they are instantly aware of any missed payments.

  • Teacher Satisfaction: The initial hesitation was replaced by relief as the system lessened administrative burdens, allowing teachers to focus on teaching.
